The Malaysia Tech Entrepreneur Programme (MTEP) is an initiative by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the Government of Malaysia. The initiative’s goal is to attract tech talents and aspiring entrepreneurs from around the globe to Malaysia to set up their startups and expand their business to the ASEAN region.

Strategically located in the heart of the ASEAN region, Malaysia is at the centre of connecting businesses to a regional market of more than 625 million people, and growing.

MTEP Programme Categories:

The MTEP programme is divided into 2 categories:

NEW TECH ENTREPRENEUR

For a founder or co-founder with no track record of an established business
With an identified tech business idea
Renewable upon first-year achievement

1-Year Pass
(Professional Visit Pass)

EXPERIENCED TECH ENTREPRENEUR

For a founder or co-founder with more than 2 years’ track record of an established business.
With an identified tech business idea.
Eligible to bring dependents.

5-Year Pass
(Residence Pass)

TECH INVESTOR

For founders, co-founders or the Malaysian Venture Partner with minimum funds of RM10 million.
Registered with the Securities Commission Malaysia as a Venture Capital Management Corporation (VCMC).
Eligible to bring dependents.
